Fume cupboards, fume hoods, bespoke exhaust ducting, extraction fans and solutions
We offer a full range of fume cupboards, fume hoods and down-draft benching for protection from exposure to fumes. Fume cupboards can be either ducted for extraction or filtered for re-circulating and are fully COSHH compliant. Fume extraction design, testing and maintenance services are also available.
Ducted fume cupboards
- Pros
- Low maintenance
- Quiet operation, due to the extract fan being some distance from the operator
- Cons
- Visible (or conduit panel enclosed) ductwork
- Heated air is removed from the workplace
Most fume cupboards and fume hoods utilised for industrial purposes employ ducting for removing fumes, toxins and contaminants from the workspace via a fanned exhaust duct.
Air volume taken from within the laboratory and dispersed into the atmosphere needs to be replaced within the laboratory itself, so consideration should also be given to heating, air-conditioning and air-flow management. Our project managers can assist you with available options and available sizes for all working environments in order to meet your requirements.
We supply and install 900, 1200, 1500 & 1800mm wide sashed fume cupboards as bench or frame mounted. We can also supply and install ‘walk-in’ fume extraction units. All are designed and tested to the appropriate British Standards.
Bespoke fume hoods, down–draft benches and down–flow workstations are available for almost any given dimensions and can be manufactured to suit your exact requirements – give your project manager the details of your requirement and we’ll produce a working drawing with quantities.
Re-circulating filtered fume cupboards
- Can be mobile – no fixed footprint required
- Viewable from all sides
- Reduced costs – can be shared between labs
- Heated air returned to the workplace
- Cons
- Fan is audible (albeit low volume)
The preferred choice for schools, colleges and universities is beginning to attract many new customers in research & development, hospitals and space conscious industrial laboratories.
They are all available with gas, air, water and electrical services and mobile units are available with multiple hose ‘docking-stations’ through-out one or several laboratories.
The latest generation of filtered fume cupboards employ 22Kg high-performance activated carbon filtration technology to remove fumes at source, allowing the cabinet to be fully mobile and so removing the need for ductwork.
Specialist Laboratory Cabinets and Storage
We are also able to offer a variety of additional items such as Chemical Dispensing Stations and storage units (for chemicals such as formalin), horizontal and vertical laminar flow cabinets, Polymerase Chain Reaction Cabinets, Microbiological Safety Cabinets and Forensic Fingerprint Cabinets which can all be custom adjusted to suit any particular application.
